LEARNING STRATEGY
THE CHALLENGE
BPP are the first private University in the UK to be given awarding powers and are spearheading a strategy of ‘employment-ready’ graduates across all their programmes. Core to this is their first fully distance learning degree, targeted at executives already in role and looking to secure senior roles. Although clear leaders in their field, it was no small undertaking; digitising a huge body of knowledge and content for the delivery of a world class online degree. The project required a rigorous process for content development, quality control and revision, a consistent brand approach and effective working practices with subject matter to ensure their knowledge and experience were delivered in the most effective way online.
THE SOLUTION
They approached WillowDNA as specialists in professional education to support their instructional design approach, ensuring academic rigour is maintained throughout the interactive elements and design and development e-learning elements of the programme. WillowDNA developed the process for conversion of lecturer content into effective online learning paths, the document control framework for the huge volume of content required, as well as providing content for the first year of the programme. The WIllowDNA team then supported in-house learning designers to take on the content and continue to develop further assets through the provision of comprehensive templates.
THE RESULT
The pilot phase has been incredibly successful and the degree is being rolled out throughout 2014 in the UK, South America and further international rollout is planned for 2015. The development and rollout model has been adopted for future online programmes, providing a tested and sustainable model for growth.
